Oxfam India Trust supported a project titled 'Small farmers development programme in flood prone areas of eastern Uttar Pradesh' from 1997-98 till 2000-01. Under the project there were nine sub-projects:

  1. Participatory approach towards sustainable agriculture and livelihood
  2. Participatory approach towards sustainable agriculture and livelihood (second phase)
  3. Participatory approach towards sustainable agriculture and livelihood (third phase)
  4. Agriculture based livelihood: research and capacity building
  5. Public health relief after floods
  6. Agriculture relief after floods
  7. Sustainable agriculture and livelihood in flood affected areas
  8. Agriculture and floods: research capacity building and networking
  9. Flood vulnerability in north eastern India: community support and institutional development, networking and advocacy for rational flood management

Of these sub-projects two (public health relief after floods and agriculture relief after floods) were emergency projects to provide relief to the flood victims.
